The Shower Room
Inside this cottage there is one of the most carefully and most sympathetically restored interiors that we have seen. It is so beautiful, we could easily see it in Beautiful Homes Magazine. A true credit to its owners.

With the owners now focusing on the exterior already having the side re-sealed and painted, they are now moving onto the front aspect. If the outside looks as half as good as the interior then it will look fantastic.

As we have mentioned this period house has some lovely features. We have been asked to add a shower enclosure in the spare bedroom. In contrast we have been given a modern brief for this room. We going to design this room, build some bespoke wardrobes and be a little creative with some clever lighting.

This was a wardrobe/cupboard. It will be this space that we will be opening up to make our shower room in. We have some great ideas for this area and we will look forward to posting them on this website as they develop. We will then build some new wardrobes on the otherside of the room.

With the area now cleared out, we have now erected our stud wall, laid our shower tray and plumbed in all the new equipment

Here is just a couple of pictures of the type of fittings that we are using. It is always nice when we have the opportunity to fit very high quality fittings. Made from metal with ceramic valves these shower bodies not only look fantastic but feel solid.

Where there was once old drawers, we have now made some beautiful built in wardrobes. Simple lines that enhance this room. The doors are yet to be painted as with the rest of the room. With the pale shades that Mr & Mrs Sweetman have in mind, it will transform this room once again.

In between the wardrobes, we have built a computer desk using the same solid oak flooring for its surface. We have added a pull out draw for the keyboard and small cupboard for the computer itself.

To conceal the shower room, we have installed these large mirror sliding doors. Not only do they make the room look bigger, but brighter also. They glide effortessly allowing access to the shower room

This shower room looks fantastic. Again nice design, Simple white tiles, chrome and some great detail. The glass bowl sink sitting on its chrome base looks clean and contemporary.

This is my favourite item in this whole project. We really wanted to set this design way ahead of most other designs that you will see. We have added in the shower room a back wall of light softly defused through a sheet of white laminated glass. With this on and no other lighting it looks un-believable. Coated with polymere, the water just runs off it.

Striving to do the very best, we did not just stop with the back wall of light. The small tiles inset into the large white tiles are made from glass and if you look closely you will see bubbles inset. To help show these bubbles off, we added led lighting behind them.

With Bristan controls, a choice of settings for the shower is available. You can choose which shower head you wish, fixed rain head or flexihose with or without the body jets, or simply just have the body jets themselves. With 3 bar of pressure it's going to have some serious power.

Lastly the flooring, Solid oak, sealed in the shower room ties this room together. Its makes it feel warm and inviting. It will be a very difficult room to leave. I know, really enjoyed doing this one!

To Mr & Mrs Sweetman, thank you very much for your patience, your hospitality and your kindness over the last 6 weeks. It has been a real pleasure working for you and Ros, we will surely miss your lunches! Brian have fun on your new scooter. We still want to try your shower!!
